Our Story

The Swaziland Homeopathy project (SHP) started in 2008 and has progressively been moving towards establishing a locally sustainable and affordable integrated health service for the communities of Swaziland.

SHP began by providing Homeopathic health clinics to mainly women in rural areas but is now providing this support to over 8 500 patients across 20 monthly rural clinics, 5 semi urban clinics and 12 community clinics.

In August of 2014, nine Swazi trainee homeopaths graduated and several of these graduates are now managing the Zamimphilo community outreach clinics, not only for their own livelihood, but also to continue the provision of affordable health options to Swaziland’s communities. In addition to these community clinics SHP continues to provide outreach support to the women from the handicraft projects; Tintsaba Craft and Gone Rural, as part of their welfare programs.

Committed to monitoring and evaluation, SHP created a database based on a scoring system of an individual’s well being. By monitoring the effectiveness of the Homeopathic treatment, patient demand and the individual needs for each outreach and community clinic, our services can be optimized.

In 2015 SHP completed phase three of its development, where the focus was to build a centre that would provide the necessary space and platform to continue its current work and to broaden its services so that patients have affordable access to all modalities of healthcare in one location. In January of 2016 the centre was completed and the clinics are now operating from this base in Mbabane.

In 2016 SHP began to broaden its activities and initiated a new project to protect endangered medicinal plants and develop new homeopathic remedies.
